'A Temple, Fortress, Piazzas and Gelato'

Mel and Kayla created a photo journal of our day in Rome featuring the Pantheon, Castel Sant'Angelo, wandering through piazzas and of course more gelato.

My (Mel) favorite (and earliest!) part of my day, the Pantheon! I didn't actually realize we had arrived until James told me but regardless it was amazing. Something really interesting is that the width has the same measurement as the height.

Inside the Pantheon. Bridget and I (Mel) sat on the benches and Kayla strolled around the inside, taking in our surroundings. It was cool being able to watch the sunlight make its way down the wall from the oculus in the ceiling.

A cute terrace above a restaurant that we spotted making our way to Castel Sant'Angelo and trying to find a bathroom we could use for free. It's adorable that almost every terrace and rooftop in Rome has some sort of garden or floral feature.

The view form the top of Castel Sant'Angelo It gives a wonderful view of the Vatican St. Paul's Cathedral (the big building with the dome).

Another view from the top of hte Castel Sant'Angelo of hte Tiber Rive and several piazzas throughout Rome.

A statue of Hadrian on top of the Castel Sant'Angelo. The statue commemorates Hadrian who owned the mausoleum.

The ceiling inside one of the rooms in Castel Sant'Angelo. It was quite breathtaking and gorgeous and the gold shines in the sun that lights up the room through the windows.

GELATO! Gelato is amazing and I had been craving fruit all day so I got strawberry-very good (10/10 would recommend) and pineapple, also very good. Kayla got straitchella chocolate chip and whipped cream. This was probably the best gelato place we've been to so far this trip.
